Overview & Setup

Connect the UV clarifier inline between your solar pump and pond, plug the power cable into the light output on any 12V battery box, and let the UVC do the work. Green algae, bacteria and viruses are killed as water flows through the quartz UV chamber – no mains electricity needed.

✓ Kills Green Algae ✓ DC 12V Solar Powered ✓ IP68 Fully Submersible ✓ Safety Auto Cut-Off ✓ 5W or 10W Options

Unlike bulky filter boxes, this is a compact inline tube. Water flows through the clarifier around a quartz sleeve fitted with UVC LEDs. The unique up-and-down flow path gives water maximum exposure to the UV light, killing algae and harmful organisms as it passes through.

Choose Your Size

5W (Ponds to 2,000L)10W (Ponds to 3,000L)
UVC Power5 Watts10 Watts
Ideal Pond VolumeUp to 2,000 litresUp to 3,000 litres
Max Flow Rate1,500 LPH2,000 LPH

Not sure which size? If in doubt, go for the 10W – it clears green water faster and handles larger pump flow rates.

Compatible Solar Pump Systems

  • Sunspray SE 1000 (25W panel)
  • Sunspray SE 2000 (40W panel) – recommended
  • 100W Solar Fountain Pump – recommended
  • Pro Fountain 3500

Important: The clarifier draws 5W or 10W from your battery in addition to the pump. For best performance, we recommend a 40W+ panel system.

Not compatible with: SE 360, SE 450 or SE 500 (these are 6.4V – the clarifier requires 12V).

Thoughtfully designed for reliability and ease of use, the UV clarifier features built-in safety systems and straightforward maintenance.

Safety Features

  • Auto cut-off – UV lamp will not operate unless correctly locked into the housing
  • Observation window – check the UV light is running at a glance
  • Arrow alignment system – ensures correct reassembly after cleaning
  • UVC radiation fully contained inside the sealed tube

Maintenance

  • Quartz sleeve develops algae or limescale over time
  • Disconnect power, remove lamp assembly, clean the sleeve
  • Dry completely before reinstalling
  • Align arrows on lampstand and UV lamp during reassembly
  • Check observation window regularly to confirm operation

Do I Need a Filter Box Too?

The UV clarifier kills algae and bacteria, but the dead algae remains in the water until it settles or is filtered out. For the clearest results, run the UV clarifier inline with one of our solar pond filter boxes – the UV kills the algae, then the filter catches it. However, many customers see excellent results with the UV clarifier alone, especially in smaller ponds.

What’s in the Box

  • 1x LED UVC Clarifier body
  • 2x Gaskets
  • 2x Lock nuts
  • 2x Hose tails with 25/32/38mm adapters

Not Included

  • Solar pump and battery box (sold separately)
  • Pond filter box (optional, sold separately)
  • Hose – use standard 25–38mm pond hose

How to Install Your Solar Pond UV Clarifier

Simple inline installation – no tools or wiring required. The UV clarifier connects between your solar pump and pond using standard hose fittings.

1. Before You Begin

Ensure you have everything ready for a smooth setup.

  • Check all components are included (clarifier body, gaskets, lock nuts, hose tails)
  • You will need standard 25–38mm pond hose (not included)
  • Ensure your solar pump system uses a 12V battery box
  • Check the battery box has a spare light output socket

2. Connect the Hose Fittings

Attach the included hose tails to the clarifier inlet and outlet.

  • Select the correct adapter size for your hose (25mm, 32mm or 38mm)
  • Screw the hose tails into the clarifier body with the gaskets
  • Hand-tighten the lock nuts – do not overtighten
  • Connect pump outlet hose to clarifier inlet

3. Position the Clarifier

The clarifier is IP68 rated and can be placed in or out of the water.

  • Place the clarifier between the pump and the pond return (or filter box)
  • Can be fully submerged or positioned at the pond edge
  • Ensure hose connections are secure and not kinked
  • Route the power cable neatly to your battery box

4. Connect Power

Plug directly into your existing solar battery box.

  • Plug the clarifier power cable into the light output on your 12V battery box
  • The UV lamp will activate automatically when power is supplied
  • Check the observation window – you should see a faint glow
  • The safety cut-off prevents operation if the lamp is not correctly seated

5. Optional: Add a Filter Box

For the clearest water, add a filter box after the UV clarifier.

  • Route: Pump → UV Clarifier → Filter Box → Pond return
  • The UV kills algae, the filter catches the dead matter
  • Any of our solar pond filter boxes are compatible
  • Works well without a filter too – dead algae settles naturally

6. Ongoing Care

Simple maintenance keeps the UV clarifier working at its best.

  • Check the observation window regularly to confirm the UV is running
  • Clean the quartz sleeve when you notice reduced clarity
  • Disconnect power before removing the lamp assembly
  • Dry the sleeve completely before reinstalling
  • Align the arrows on the lampstand and UV lamp during reassembly

How Your Solar UV Clarifier Works

UVC light destroys the DNA of green algae, bacteria and viruses as water flows through the clarifier – powered entirely by your solar battery system.

UVC Technology

  • LED UVC light at 265–315nm wavelength
  • Quartz sleeve maximises UV exposure
  • Unique down-and-up water flow path for longer contact time
  • Kills green algae, harmful bacteria and viruses
  • Observation window to verify operation

Installation

  • Connect pump outlet hose to clarifier inlet
  • Connect clarifier outlet hose back to pond (or through a filter box)
  • Plug power cable into light output on your 12V battery box
  • 25/32/38mm hose adapters included – fits standard pond hose
  • No tools or wiring required

Power Requirements

  • Draws 5W or 10W from your 12V battery box
  • Plugs into the light output socket
  • Recommend 40W+ solar panel when running pump + UV together
  • Compatible with SE 1000, SE 2000, 100W Pump, Pro Fountain 3500
  • Not compatible with 6.4V systems (SE 360/450/500)

Best Results

  • Run during daylight hours when solar battery is charging
  • For clearest water, combine with a filter box to catch dead algae
  • Clean quartz sleeve periodically to maintain UV effectiveness
  • Results typically visible within 1–2 weeks
  • Keep running throughout the feeding season
