Product Overview

Choose the pre-cut size that matches your pond layout, then plan for enough liner to dress the shape and secure the edges once it is in place.

The Flexiliner pond liner is manufactured out of 3 layers - 1 layer LDPE between two coatings of UV resistant laminate.

Flexiliner pond liners are flexible, strong and durable with a strength enhancing UV stabilised and rot resistant coating on each side of the liner.

The Unique selling point of this item is that it is tear-proof - if the liner gets punctured the hole will not 'run'.

- Dig the hole to the required shape for the liner, taking care to make the sides sloping rather than vertical. To create planting areas for marginal plants leave steps from 20 cm to 40 cm deep as required . For a perfect finish, ensure that the top edge of the pool is level. This will make edging the pool easier with minimal visible liner exposed.

Pond liner installation Step 1

- Ensure the pool area is free from sharp stones, place underlay on the base and sides of the excavation and then place the liner in position. Should you need to tread on the liner remove shoes to avoid piercing. Lightly anchor the liner in position with bricks evenly distributed around the edge of the liner, not the excavation.

Pond liner installation Step 2

- Run water into the pool gradually, at the same time pulling and tucking the liner into shape to ensure a neat finish. You'll notice that the liner will stretch at first, then as the weight of water increases, it will mould itself to the shape of the sides. Fill the pool completely, checking that the liner fits closely all round. Leave overnight, to ensure proper settlement of the liner. Trim off excess liner around the pool with scissors or a knife, leaving 30cm overlap for anchorage.

Pond liner installation Step 3

- After a week you can complete your pool by edging in stone, or paving as desired, allowing for a small overhang to hide the liner from direct sunlight. For a different effect, grass turf can be used, which may overhang and touch the water.

What sizes are available for medium pond layouts and coverage requirements?

This Flexiliner is supplied pre-cut for medium layouts from 6 x 6 metres through to 10 x 10 metres, covering 36 to 100 square metres. Choose the size that matches your pond shape, while allowing additional material to dress the contours and secure the edges. The product listing states that 33 pre-cut sizes are available.

Will a puncture spread across the material if the surface gets damaged?

The material is described as tear-proof, meaning a puncture should not cause the hole to run across the surrounding material. It is made from three layers: an LDPE layer between two UV-resistant laminate coatings. The listing also describes it as flexible, strong and durable, with UV-stabilised and rot-resistant coatings on both sides.

What preparation and edge allowance are recommended during installation?

Clear sharp stones from the excavation, place underlay across the base and sides, and position the liner carefully. Water should be added gradually while the material is pulled and tucked into shape. Once filled, leave it overnight to settle, then trim excess material while retaining a 30 cm overlap for anchorage. Edging can be completed after one week.
