300W Pure Sine Wave — What It Will and Will Not Run

300W continuous with a 600W surge is enough for almost everything you would take camping or use at a desk: laptops, tablets, monitors, TVs up to about 40 inches, games consoles, projectors, fans, LED lights, drones and camera chargers, electric blankets, and CPAP machines. Pure sine wave output means sensitive electronics and medical equipment run exactly as they would from a wall socket. What it is not for is heat: kettles, toasters, hair dryers, microwaves and fan heaters draw 1,500W or more and will trip the overload protection. If you need to boil a kettle off-grid, look at the R600 or R1500 LITE in the same range.

Full Charge in About an Hour

The charger is built into the unit, so the P300 goes from flat to full in about 1 hour from a normal wall socket at 300W — one cable, no power brick. Away from the mains, the XT60 solar input takes up to 110W through a built-in MPPT controller: pair it with a 100W folding panel and a strong day's sun refills it in around 2.5 hours. How Long Will It Run?

A 256Wh battery with about 85% usable after conversion losses gives, in round numbers: a 65W laptop for about 3.4 hours or roughly three full recharges of its battery, a phone around eleven times, a 25W LED camping light for about 8.8 hours, a 50W 12V cool box for around 4.4 hours, and a 65W CPAP machine for about 3.4 hours. Divide 218 by the wattage of whatever you plug in and you will be close. These are manufacturer estimates and real figures depend on the device and the temperature.

20ms UPS — Power Cut Protection for the Home Office

Keep the P300 plugged into the mains with your broadband router, desktop PC or NAS drive on its AC socket. When the supply drops, it switches to battery in under 20 milliseconds, so the equipment simply carries on. Common Questions

How many times will the P300 charge a laptop?

A typical laptop battery holds 50–70Wh, so a full P300 gives roughly three full recharges through the 100W USB-C port, or about 3.4 hours of continuous running for a 65W laptop from the AC socket. Phones charge around eleven times.

Can the P300 run a kettle or a hair dryer?

No. Kettles, toasters, hair dryers, heaters and microwaves draw 1,500–3,000W, well above the P300's 300W continuous limit, and the overload protection will switch the socket off. The P300 is for electronics, lighting, cool boxes and small appliances up to 300W. For kettle-class loads see the ALLPOWERS R600 (600W) or R1500 LITE (1600W).

Is a solar panel included?

No — the P300 is supplied as a standalone unit with its mains cable. It accepts up to 110W of solar through an XT60 input (11–30V), so a single 100W folding panel such as the ALLPOWERS SP027 is the right match. Do not connect panels in series above 30V.

Can I use the P300 while it is charging?

Yes. The P300 supports pass-through charging, so it can power your devices while it charges from the mains or a solar panel. This is also how UPS mode works: leave it plugged in and it switches to battery in under 20ms if the mains supply fails.

Can I take the P300 on a plane?

No. Airlines limit lithium batteries carried by passengers to 160Wh, and the P300's 256Wh battery is above that, so it cannot travel in hand or hold luggage. It is fine for car, van, caravan, boat and train travel — it is not classed as dangerous goods on the road.

Getting Started

The ALLPOWERS VOLIX P300 Portable Power Station 256Wh is ready to use straight out of the box. There is nothing to install — charge it up, switch on the outputs you need and plug in. The steps below get you running in about an hour.

Step 1 — Initial Charge

Before first use, charge the P300 to 100% with the included AC mains cable. The charger is built in, so the cable plugs straight into a wall socket at up to 300W and a full charge from empty takes about 1 hour. The display shows the charge as a percentage.

Tip: if the unit has been in storage for more than 3 months it may arrive partly discharged. A full charge before first use lets the battery management system (BMS) calibrate properly.

Step 2 — Connecting a Solar Panel (Optional)

To charge from the sun, connect a solar panel to the XT60 solar input on the back. The P300 accepts 11–30V at up to 8A — 110W maximum — through its built-in MPPT controller, so a 100W folding panel is the natural partner. Check your panel's output connector: panels with MC4 or DC leads need an XT60 adapter.

  • Stand the panel in direct sunlight, angled towards the sun
  • Connect it to the solar input — charging starts automatically and the display shows the incoming watts
  • Do not exceed 30V at the input: a single 100W panel is right, two 100W panels in series is not
  • Expect about 2.5 hours to full at the full 110W; longer in typical UK sun

Step 3 — Connecting Your Devices

  1. Press the main power button to turn the P300 on
  2. Press the AC button to activate the 230V socket (for mains-powered devices up to 300W)
  3. Press the USB button to activate the USB-C and USB-A ports, and the DC button for the 12V car socket
  4. Plug in your devices — the display shows the total output in watts

Switch off any output group you are not using. The inverter behind the AC socket draws a little power even when idle, so turning it off between uses noticeably extends the runtime.

Storage & Maintenance

  • Store at 20–30°C in a dry place out of direct sunlight
  • For long-term storage keep the battery at 50–80% charge
  • Top up to 50–80% every 3 months if it is not in regular use
  • Do not expose to rain, moisture or extreme temperatures — it is not waterproof
  • No servicing is needed — the LiFePO4 battery is maintenance-free

Charging the Power Station

There are three ways to charge the P300:

  • Mains (fastest): plug the included AC cable into any wall socket. A full charge takes about 1 hour at up to 300W — the charger is inside the unit, so there is no external brick to carry.
  • Solar panel: connect a panel (sold separately) to the XT60 input. The built-in MPPT controller accepts up to 110W — about 2.5 hours to full in strong sun with a 100W panel.
  • Car socket: charge on the move from a 12V or 24V vehicle socket at up to 110W — roughly 3 hours from empty.

Mains and solar can be used at the same time, and you can charge the P300 while it is powering your devices.

Powering Your Devices

Press the power button, then switch on only the output groups you need — AC, USB and the 12V car socket are each switched independently to save battery when they are not in use.

  • AC socket (1×): a standard 230V UK 3-pin socket with pure sine wave output. Suitable for laptops, TVs, LED lights, fans, games consoles, projectors, CPAP machines and anything else rated up to 300W (600W surge). It will not run kettles, toasters, hair dryers, heaters or microwaves — those need 1,500W or more.
  • USB-C (1×): up to 100W Power Delivery — fast-charges a laptop, tablet or phone.
  • USB-A (2×): 18W each for phones, headphones, torches and accessories.
  • Car socket (12V): up to 120W for cool boxes, tyre inflators, 12V fridges and other car accessories.

UPS Mode — Automatic Power Backup

Leave the P300 plugged into the mains with your router, desktop PC or NAS drive connected to its AC socket. If the mains fails, the P300 switches to battery in under 20 milliseconds — quick enough that the equipment never notices. When the power returns, it recharges itself.

App Control

Connect to the ALLPOWERS app over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to watch the battery level and the input and output watts in real time, switch outputs on and off remotely, and set charging modes. The unit runs at 30dB, so it can charge overnight beside a bed or inside a tent.
