Overview
Versatile 12–18V DC water pump with 1800 LPH flow and 3.5m max head. Direct-fit replacement for the Sunspray SE 2000 and Sunspray SE 3500 solar pond pumps — also suitable for 12V / 18V DC water feature, fountain and low-voltage transfer applications.
12–18V DC brushless submersible pump
1800 LPH flow rate at 18V
3.5m maximum head height
19mm internal diameter outlet
Dry-run, locked-rotor and overheat protection
5m integrated cable
Direct-fit replacement for Sunspray SE 2000 and SE 3500 (BP501218D)
12–18V DC Water Pump — 1800 LPH, 3.5m Head (BP501218D)
A versatile 12–18V DC brushless submersible water pump rated at 1800 LPH with a 3.5m maximum head. Runs from a 12V or 18V DC power source — solar panel, battery, or DC supply — and is fitted with built-in dry-run, locked-rotor and overheat protection.
This is the same pump body used inside the Sunspray SE 2000 and SE 3500 solar pond pump kits, making it a straight plug-in replacement if your existing pump has failed and you want to keep the rest of your system.
Typical applications
Replacement pump for Sunspray SE 2000 and SE 3500 solar pond pump kits
DIY solar water feature, fountain or cascade (paired with a 40W 18V solar panel)
12V DC transfer pump for low-voltage water circulation
Off-grid / battery-driven pond aeration or circulation
Direct-fit replacement compatibility
If you already own one of the following PowerBee kits and your pump has failed, this is the correct replacement pump body — it uses the same 2-pin DC connector and 19mm outlet:
Sunspray SE 2000 (SP40-501218D-1)
Sunspray SE 3500 (SP40-501218D)
1400 LPH Pond Filter System (ecofilter-4000 + SP40-501218D-1)
The BP501218D is a brushless DC submersible pump that accepts any DC supply between 12V and 18V. Flow and head scale with input voltage — run it on a 40W 18V solar panel for full rated output, or on a 12.8V LiFePO4 battery for reduced output extended into the evening.
Voltage and output
At 18V (direct solar, sunny day): 1800 L/H flow, 3.5 m maximum head, ~20W draw.
At 12.8V (LiFePO4 battery): 1400 L/H flow, 2.0 m maximum head, ~10W draw.
Below 12V: the pump will not start reliably. Keep your supply above 12V under load.
Built-in protections
Dry-run protection — the pump cuts off automatically if it loses water contact. Prevents diaphragm burnout.
Locked-rotor protection — if the impeller jams on debris, the motor shuts down instead of burning out.
Overheat protection — if internal temperature rises above safe range, the motor stops until it cools.
Seasonal note (solar-powered use)
Solar pumps are effectively spring and summer products. From April through to September the BP501218D will run reliably on sunny days, often well into the evening when combined with a battery. Through October to March, daylight hours and sun angle are significantly reduced — expect limited running time and, on very cloudy winter days, no running at all. This is normal physics, not a pump fault.
