Vigil Linkable Solar Flood Light — Product Overview
One light watching a driveway leaves the far end dark until someone is already there. The Vigil fixes that: fit two or more along a drive, a path or the side of the house, put them on the same channel, and when one of them sees movement every Vigil within 30 metres switches to full brightness with it. Each light has two motion sensors and two angled LED panels, gives up to 1200 lumens, and charges itself from a fold-over solar panel, so there is no cable to run.

A sensible choice for drives, side passages, gates, sheds and long gardens, anywhere one light on its own leaves dark corners.

Autumn and Winter Use
Like every solar light, the Vigil collects less charge on short, dull winter days. Face the panel south, keep it clear of shade, leaves and bird droppings, and in winter set it to 30 seconds + Off on the remote: it stays dark until someone comes and only uses power when it's needed. That is the maker's own advice for winter and long spells of poor weather.
Common Questions
How far apart can the lights be and still link?
Up to 30 metres (100 ft), with nothing solid in between. Test the spacing before you fix them; if a light doesn't respond, move them a little closer. A light passes the signal on once: lights within range of the one that saw the movement come on, but they don't relay it further.
Will my neighbour's lights set mine off?
Not if you use a different channel. The remote has three link channels, and only lights on the same channel work together.
Do I need the remote?
Yes, keep it. You use it to switch the light on, pick the mode, the time it stays on, the brightness and the link channel. Once set, the light switches on by itself at dusk every night.
How high should I fit it?
Between about 1.5 and 4 metres (5 to 13 ft). Fitted higher than that, the motion sensors pick up people less well.
How do I test it before fitting?
Switch it on with the remote and cover the solar panel with something dark. In daylight it lights for about a minute and then switches off by itself; it will come on properly at dusk.
No wiring and no electrician. Allow a few minutes per light.
1. Test First
Switch the light on with the remote and cover the solar panel. In daylight it lights for about a minute, then switches off by itself.
2. Pick the Spot
Choose a place with direct sun for most of the day, ideally facing south, between about 1.5 and 4 m high. Keep the panel away from street lights or other lights at night, or it won't come on.
3a. Fix to a Wall
Mark two holes 31 mm apart, drill with a 6 mm bit and push in the wall plugs. Screw in the top screw, leaving about 5 mm out, hang the light on it, then fit and tighten the bottom screw.
3b. Or Fix to a Post
Thread the two cable ties through the back in an X, wrap them round the post and pull them tight, keeping the light level.
4. Set the Panel
Tilt the solar panel up or lay it flat, whichever catches more sun.
5. Link Your Lights
Set every light to the same channel (1, 2 or 3) and to motion mode, within 30 m of each other with nothing solid in between. Walk past after dark to check they come on together.
