No special tools are needed. The SW1040D drops straight in as a replacement for any 4W Smart Garden hybrid water feature kit. Set aside 10–15 minutes from start to flowing water.
Step 1 — Remove Old Kit
Unplug the old panel at the cable connector
Lift the old pump out of the reservoir
Empty any debris from the pump chamber
Rinse the reservoir if needed
Step 2 — Mount the Panel
Choose a south-facing spot in full sun
Push the ground spike into firm soil, OR
Use the wall bracket + supplied screws for a fence/wall
Angle the panel face toward the midday sun
Step 3 — Connect the Pump
Place the SP-250XS pump in the reservoir, fully submerged
Route the 3m cable neatly back to the panel
Plug the teal push-fit connector into the battery box
Listen for a click — connector is weatherproof when seated
Step 4 — Fill, Switch On, Done
Fill the reservoir until the pump is fully covered
Flick the battery box switch to ON
Pump should start within a few seconds in sunlight
Allow the battery to charge for a full sunny day before first evening use
Important Notes
Never run the pump dry — damage from dry running is not covered by warranty
Clean the pump filter sleeve every 2–4 weeks for full flow
Bring the panel and pump indoors over winter to protect from frost
The SP-250XS pump and SC4W0DT panel are only compatible as a matched set — don't mix with older non-hybrid 2130 or 2030 kits
