Overview
Six small solar lights for fences, walls and steps that you set from a remote: warm white for every day, or one of 8 colours, or a slow colour cycle for a party. Each light charges from its own panel by day and switches itself on at dusk.
6 lights in the pack
Warm white, 8 colours or a slow colour cycle
Remote control: colour, brightness up and down, 6-hour timer
Comes on by itself at dusk (no motion sensor)
Rechargeable 3.7V 1200mAh lithium battery and 0.6W panel in each light
IP65 weatherproof
Fix with the adhesive pad or with screws
Best in spring and summer; shorter running in winter
Spectra is a pack of six small solar lights for fence panels, garden walls, steps and posts, with a remote control that does the work. Fix them where the sun reaches, and each one charges by day and comes on at dusk. Leave them on warm white for a calm glow along a fence, pick one of eight colours to match a party or a season, or set the slow colour cycle and let the garden change colour through the evening.
The remote sets colour, brightness and a timer without climbing a ladder or reaching over a border. Press 6H and the light switches off after six hours, so it lights the evening and saves the battery for the next night. Each light has its own 0.6W solar panel and a 3.7V 1200mAh rechargeable lithium battery inside a weatherproof IP65 housing of ABS with an acrylic lens.
Seasonal performance: Best in spring and summer. A full charge needs about 10 hours of direct sun, so winter running is shorter, especially on dull days. This light has no motion sensor: it comes on at dusk and stays on until the battery, the timer or the remote says otherwise.
Where to Fit Them
Each light needs its own patch of direct sun. A south-facing fence or wall with nothing shading the panels gives the longest running time.
Before fitting, switch each light on with the POWER button (pressed in is on) and test it: cover the panel with your hand and it should light. If the light is dim or goes out, the battery is low, so give it a day in the sun first. At night the panel must not see a porch, security or street light, or the light will not come on.
Common Questions
Does it have a motion sensor?
No. It comes on by itself at dusk and stays on until the battery runs down, the 6-hour timer ends, or you switch it off with the remote.
How do I change the colour?
Point the remote at the light and press a colour key, the warm white key or the RGB key for a slow colour cycle. F1 changes colour every 3 seconds and F2 every 30 minutes. The MODE button on the light also steps through the colours.
Can I set it to switch off after a few hours?
Yes. Press 6H and it switches off after six hours; each press of +1H adds another hour.
How do I fit it?
Two ways: stick it to a clean, dry, flat surface with the strong adhesive pad, or drill a 6 mm hole, push in a wall plug and screw it on. Choose a spot that gets direct sun, ideally south-facing, with no shade on the panel.
Will it work in winter?
It works best in spring and summer. A full charge needs about 10 hours of direct sun, so short winter days give shorter running. Keep the panel clear of shade and away from porch or street lights at night.
Quick installation: press the POWER button on each light and test it by covering the panel. Choose a spot with direct sun, ideally south-facing and unshaded. Wipe the surface clean and dry and fix the light with the adhesive pad, or drill a 6 mm hole, push in a wall plug and screw it in place. Give the lights a full day of sun before judging running time.
String Installation & Care Guide
Your new lighting system uses extremely fine copper wiring to transport low-voltage electricity efficiently. While this technology enables beautiful, eco-friendly illumination, it requires careful handling and specific installation methods to ensure longevity. Understanding these requirements will help you enjoy your lights for many years to come.
1. Panel Mounting Options
Ground spike for soft surfaces
Wall bracket for fences/walls
Shelf stand for windowsills (If Applicable)
2. Optimal Positioning
Choose a south-facing location
Avoid shaded areas during the day
Ensure direct sunlight access for charging
At night, keep the panel/sensor in a genuinely dark spot – avoid nearby windows, security lights or street lamps
3. Light String Support
Support every 2-3 LEDs (avoid spans over 4-5)
What to use: small cable clips or U-hooks (similar to the small clips used for telephone cable) — they hold the wire securely without squeezing or pinching it
Cable ties are fine if left loose — never tightened to the point of compressing the wire
Avoid: wrapping the string around a screw, or splitting the strands and routing them either side of a screw head — both methods damage the fine internal wires and lead to failure over time
4. Power Settings
Switch on for initial setup
Charges in both ON/OFF positions
Auto-activation at dusk using the built-in light sensor
If the panel or sensor is close to other light sources, the lights may not switch on at all
Installation Methods
Choose the best mounting option for your location. Proper installation is crucial for the longevity and performance of your lighting system.
Ground Installation
Soften hard ground with water
Insert spike securely
Attach power unit
Wall Mounting
Use screws and wall plugs
Secure bracket firmly
Click panel into place
Windowsill Setup (where applicable)
Use provided stand
Ensure stable surface
Maximum sun exposure during the day, but avoid strong indoor light on the sensor at night
Safety Checks
Secure all connections
Test stability
Check wire tension
Crucial Considerations for Longevity
Protect your investment by understanding these common challenges and how to avoid them. Proper care from the start ensures years of beautiful illumination.
Why Support Is Crucial
Prevents tension on delicate internal wires
Eliminates weak points that can break
Think of it like securing a delicate necklace
Rule: Support every 2-3 LEDs, with clips that grip without crushing
Water & Weather Protection
Avoid areas with concentrated water flow (e.g., from roofs without gutters)
Waterfalls can wear away protective coating over time
Do not submerge LEDs or place where water pools (unless rated IP65+)
The Conifer Challenge
Requires extra support due to annual pruning and wind movement
Branches can whip around vigorously during storms
Tip: Create a secure pathway, don't just drape
Always remove lights before pruning
Wildlife Interactions
Birds are attracted to small, bright objects resembling berries
Curious beaks can damage LED bulbs
Solution: Avoid strategic placement near bird feeders or heavy bird traffic areas
Moving, Storage & Long-Term Care
The delicate copper wiring requires special care when not in use. Proper handling prevents damage and extends the life of your lights significantly.
Safe Storage & Handling
Never pull, yank, or bunch the strings
Wind carefully around a cardboard tube
Store in a dry, safe location
Avoid sharp bends or kinks in the wire
Reinstallation Checks
Always check wiring for damage before reusing
Reapply all proper supports and cable ties
Test the lights before finalizing your setup
The Investment Pays Off
Proper installation leads to years of trouble-free use
Customers report multi-year longevity with correct care
A few extra minutes during setup saves hours of troubleshooting later
Your Long-Term Care Commitment
Your lighting system is an investment in your outdoor space. While the initial installation may take more time to do properly, this effort pays off many times over in longevity. Remember: The few extra minutes spent on proper support, thoughtful positioning and careful installation will save hours of troubleshooting and replacement later.
Final Note: When properly installed and cared for, your lights can provide years of beautiful, sustainable illumination. The key is understanding that their delicate nature requires thoughtful installation and handling. Take your time with the initial setup, follow these guidelines carefully, and you'll be rewarded with a lasting, magical display.
