The Ember is a small, round rechargeable light about the size of a large mug, 80 mm across and 62 mm tall, and it weighs 213 grams. Inside is a 5200mAh battery, so it does two jobs: it lights a tent, a caravan or a room when the power goes off, and it charges a phone from its USB port. Hang it from the fold-away hook on the tent loop, stick it to a car bonnet or a steel shelf with the magnet in its base, or simply stand it on the table.

Indoors and Out
We use these all over the house. Keep one in a kitchen drawer and one by the bed, and when the power goes off you have light straight away, without hunting for candles or matches. On a camping trip it hangs from the tent roof by its hook; at home it stands on a table as a reading or night light; in the garage or on the drive the magnet holds it to the car while you work under the bonnet.
How Long Does It Last?
It depends on the brightness and colour. On the lowest setting the maker gives up to 230 hours; at full brightness expect around 10 hours. Charging a phone from it uses the same battery, so the more you charge, the less light is left. A green light breathes while it charges and stays on when it is full.
Common Questions
Can it charge my phone?
Yes. It has a 5200mAh battery and a USB output at 5V/1A, so plug your phone's charging cable into it. That is a steady rather than fast charge, and whatever you use for the phone comes off the light's run time.
Is it waterproof?
It is rated IPX5, which means it handles rain and splashes from any direction. It is not made to be dropped in water or left sitting in a puddle.
How do I switch on the torch?
With the light off, hold the power button for two seconds. Press + or - to change the brightness, or hold them for stepless dimming. Hold the power button for two seconds again to switch off.
Does it have a magnet?
Yes, there is a strong magnet in the base, so it holds to a car body, a steel shelf, a fridge or a boiler casing, as well as hanging from its fold-away hook.
What's in the box?
The light, a USB-C charging cable and a user manual, in a gift box.
