The Blenheim 100 Lumen Solar Pillar Lantern is a traditional pier-top lantern brought up to date with solar. A tapered, horizontally ribbed clear diffuser throws a soft, even glow across a gateway or driveway entrance, while the flat solar panel set into its lid charges a built-in lithium battery through the day. There is no wiring, no trench and no electrician — the cast aluminium base bolts straight to a flat pier cap, wall pillar or fence post. Runtime will vary with season, weather and location, so choosing the right mode matters.
Ribbed diffuser, aluminium base, solar panel in the lid — one self-contained unit
With no electricity to connect, installation is four screws and a mode selection. Sit the base on the pier, mark and drill the fixing holes, bolt it down, and leave the panel in the open — the lantern comes on by itself at dusk and switches off again at first light.
Applications & Uses
The Blenheim 100 Lumen Solar Pillar Lantern is built for the places a wall light cannot reach: the tops of brick gate piers, stone pillars, fence posts and garden walls, where a light marks the entrance and lifts the whole frontage after dark.

Two Lighting Modes
A single button selects the mode; hold it for 1.5 seconds to switch the lantern on or off. M1 gives the full 100 lumens for the first five hours after dusk, then drops to 25 lumens until dawn — bright for the evening, still lit at first light. M2 holds a steady 50 lumens all night. The red indicator flashes once for M1 and twice for M2, and the lantern remembers whichever mode you last set.
In spring and summer, with good sun on the panel, M1 is the natural choice. From autumn to early spring, or on a north-facing pier, use M2 — the manufacturer rates the lantern at more than 10 days of lighting in rainy weather, a figure that assumes the panel is still charging through cloud, and M2 is how you get closest to it.

The Blenheim 100 Lumen Solar Pillar Lantern is a surface-mount lantern: it bolts to any flat pier cap, pillar top or post. There is no wiring at all. Good positioning is what decides how well it runs through the year, so a minute spent on where the panel will sit is worth it.
Where to Mount
A flat, level surface at least 160 mm square — brick or stone pier cap, concrete post cap, wall pillar, fence or pergola post
Open sky above the lid — the panel is horizontal, so overhanging trees, porches and eaves cut the charge directly
South-facing or open positions run longest; a north-facing pier under a hedge is the hardest case
Pair them — one on each gate pier — for a balanced entrance
Fitting — Four Fixings
Sit the base on the pier and mark the fixing holes through the flange
Drill and plug (masonry) or pilot-drill (timber); bolt the base down with the supplied fixings
Check the lantern is upright and the lid is level so the panel faces the sky
No cable, no trench, no electrician
First Use & Modes
Leave it in daylight for a full day before the first night to top up the battery
Hold the button for 1.5 seconds to switch on; short presses select M1 (100 lm for 5 h, then 25 lm) or M2 (50 lm all night)
Use M2 from autumn to early spring, or on shaded piers; the red indicator flashes once for M1, twice for M2
The lantern turns on and off by itself every day — nothing else to do
Care & Maintenance
Wipe the solar panel every few weeks — dust, pollen and bird droppings are the usual cause of short runtimes
Clear leaves and snow from the lid in winter
Wash the diffuser with soapy water; no solvents
Safety
Use fixings suited to the pier material and check they are tight
Do not open the sealed body — the battery is not user-replaceable
Keep the base flange fully supported; do not mount overhanging an edge
The Blenheim 100 Lumen Solar Pillar Lantern is a self-contained solar light. During the day the panel in the lid charges the built-in lithium battery; at dusk a light sensor switches the LED on, and the electronics ration that stored charge through the night so the lantern is still lit at dawn.
Solar Charging
A 1.9W monocrystalline panel sits flush in the lid, facing the sky
About 5.2 hours of bright sun fills the 7.4Wh Li-ion battery
The panel keeps charging through cloud — which is what the multi-day rainy-weather rating relies on
ALS 2.3 Adaptive Lighting
Matches the output to the charge in the battery so a grey week does not leave the pier dark
Manufacturer-rated at more than 10 days of lighting in rainy weather with the panel still charging
The result is a light that is still on at 6 am, rather than bright until midnight and dark after
TCS Battery Management
Temperature-controlled charging protects the cell on hot summer days and in frost
Rated to run from -10°C to +55°C
Extends battery life over years of outdoor use
Two Modes, One Button
M1: 100 lumens for the first five hours, then 25 lumens till dawn
M2: a steady 50 lumens till dawn
Hold 1.5 s for on/off; the red indicator flashes once for M1, twice for M2
Warm 3000K Osram LED
24 × 2835 chips give 100 lumens — deliberately decorative, a soft glow that marks the pier without glare
The ribbed clear diffuser spreads the light evenly around all four sides
50,000-hour rated LED life
Dusk to Dawn, Automatically
A light sensor turns the lantern on at dusk and off in daylight
No timer to set, no switch to remember
Battery indicator: green above 70% charge, orange 30–70%, red below 30%
