The Ranger puts the light where you need it and the solar panel where the sun is. A 5 m cable links the 318 LED floodlight to its separate panel, so a porch, side passage or shed door in permanent shade can still have motion-activated lighting, fed by a panel on a sunny wall or roof edge.

Most solar security lights fail for one reason: the light has to go somewhere dark, so the panel on top never charges. The Ranger separates the two. The light mounts under eaves, in a passage or over a door; the panel goes up to 5 m away on the sunniest surface you have.
Seasonal performance: Best in spring and summer; limited winter operation depends on strong direct sunshine reaching a well-positioned, unshaded solar panel.
Three Modes, Chosen by Remote
The remote selects the mode or switches the light off without a ladder. The rear switch on the light must be ON for the remote to work.

A large panel of 318 SMD LEDs gives a broad, even wash of cool white light rather than a narrow spot – up to 1000 lumens when motion is detected. The weatherproof plug connection between light and panel lets you run the 5 m cable along a wall or under a soffit, and the panel doubles as the dusk sensor: the light only comes on once the panel is in darkness.

Good to Know
Solar lights need direct sunlight – aim for five hours or more a day on the panel; less sun means shorter running time, especially in winter. The light will not switch on while the panel is in daylight or under another light source, so a panel inside a bright porch or shed keeps the light off. Do not extend the 5 m cable: the small panel cannot push its charge through a longer run – mount the light closer to the panel instead.

Installation is straightforward and needs only basic DIY: choose the panel position first, mount the light on its bracket, screw the panel to its bracket in the sun and connect the 5 m cable.
Choose the panel position first: a south-facing wall, fence top or roof edge with no shade between about 10am and 3pm, within 5 m of where the light will go.
Mount the light 2–3 m high on its bracket, angled down over the area to cover. It can sit in permanent shade – that is what the remote panel is for.
Screw the panel to its bracket, angle it towards the midday sun and connect the 5 m cable to the light, pushing the plug fully home.
Switch the light ON at the rear switch, then choose a mode with the remote. Give the panel a full day of sun before judging running time.
Do not extend the cable, and do not place the panel inside a porch, greenhouse or shed.

Daytime Charging
Solar panel collects sunlight and charges the internal battery during the day.
For best results, install the panel facing south (in the northern hemisphere), especially in winter when sunlight is limited.
Keep the panel clean and free from shade for maximum efficiency.
Automatic Night Operation
At dusk, the light automatically switches to standby mode.

Selectable Lighting Modes
Most models offer three modes, set by a button on the light or with a remote control:
Mode 1: Motion-activated full brightness, then off — recommended in winter, or if the panel faces north.
Mode 2: Dim light all night, full brightness with motion — works well in spring/autumn with good sunlight exposure.
Mode 3: Constant light (Flood light mode) — best for summer or very high sunlight conditions; may reduce battery runtime in shorter days.

Hi it is one of them, however please do remember that you need to balance power with function especially concerning UK weather for example in autumn and winter you would not want the brightest solar lights, as these do not last very long in terms of lighting time.
It is also important to note that these particular units have a somewhat fixed solar panel it can tilt backwards and forwards but not to one side so it is important with these particular lights to ensure that your driveway is South facing or north facing with no impediment to South so that the panel could actually be tilted backwards towards South even though the light is facing north.
If you wish to have quite a bright light but have a restricted location then please see the custodian solar spotlight which has a separate solar panel and although is not the very brightest of all of the lights they are designed to work for very long periods of time throughout the year.
How long does it stay lit on a full charge?
Operating time runs between 14 and 40 hours depending on which mode you select, after a 4–6 hour charge in direct sunlight. The dim and sustained low-output modes give the longest runtime, while continuous high-brightness motion triggers will draw down the 5000mAh LiFePO₄ battery faster. Winter performance will be lower than summer due to shorter charging windows.
Can I mount the light in shade if the panel gets sun?
Yes — that's the main reason to choose this model. The solar panel connects via a 5-metre detachable cable, so you can fix the light under eaves, on a north-facing wall, or in a sheltered spot while siting the 6V 20W panel where it gets stronger sunlight. This makes it suitable for locations where standard all-in-one solar lights fail to charge reliably.
How far away will it pick up movement and how wide does it light?
The PIR motion sensor detects movement up to 20 metres away across a 120° arc, and the head adjusts up to 180° so you can aim the beam where it's needed. Coverage is rated up to 80 m² depending on mounting height and angle, with 1200 lumens of 6000K daylight-white output from 261 COB LEDs for driveways, yards and perimeter areas.

Great lights. They illuminate a 30 metre driveway very well from dusk to dawn, admittedly in the Algarve, but the panels only get full sun in the afternoon. Difficult to fix to a wall so I fixed a small wooden plate to the wall and the light to the plate. Much easier.

all in all very good little light, thought I would use it to highlight the house so bought 4 in total - the ones on the south work best of all as I can get the panel angle down correct so they get most light but the others work fairy well even though they have a bit of shade, they do highlight the house its not like mains or anything but it is brighter than we thought and they work for a long time compared to other cheaper little ones we tried before for the price they are well worth it, we found in summer they ones on the south went all night long, now it looks like we got a posh hhaaassse :)
