Does it have battery backup?
No — the Neptune runs in direct sunlight only. The pump operates when the remote solar panel is receiving strong sun, and slows or stops when light fades. If you need evening operation, look at a model with battery backup.
How fragile is glazed ceramic outdoors?
Sturdy enough for normal garden use but more vulnerable to impact than resin. Position it away from lawnmowers and garden furniture, and store it in a shed or garage over winter to protect from frost cracking.
