Installation Instructions

Unpack all components carefully.

Set up the steel frame in the desired place on an even, solid surface. Please keep in
mind that some water may splash over the rim of a bowl, do not set up the cascade
fountain on a surface which may be damaged by water.

Connect the hose from the top jug to the vent of the pump and place the pump on the
floor of the reservoir bowl. Place all remaining bowls onto the frame.

Fill reservoir with clean water and ensure pump is fully submerged.

Connect the pump cable to the socket of the control housing on the rear side of the

solar panel; the solar fountain is now ready to use.

Operating Instructions

Turn on the pump: short press the ON/OFF position to turn on the pump, the pump will run
certain hours (refer to battery status) and turn to solar mode automatically. The pump will
operate automatically next day in direct sunlight.

Charge the battery: press and hold on 3 seconds to turn OFF the pump and charge the full
solar energy to battery during day time, turn on the pump when you need it (on demand).

Battery status:
Green: battery is full charged. Pump will run around 6-8 hours.
Orange: battery is half charged. Pump will run around 2-6 hours.
Red: battery needs charges. Pump will run less than 1 hour.

(Note: In order to protect battery, don’t manually turn on the pump frequently)
Note: The indicator light is solid when charging battery.

Trouble Shooting Tips

1) Pump does not operate even thought the solar module is in full sunlight.

No connection to the solar module - check connection to the solar module.
Impeller is blocked - To clean the pump, remove the front plate and the impeller.
Use a small brush or steam of water to remove any debris.

2) Pump does operate but there is no water running through the fountain head

check for the build up of sediment or scale in the tubes or the filter- clean the tubes and the filter.

How A Terracotta Cascade Solar Water Feature Works

A solar cascade with battery backup works by harnessing solar energy to power a pump that circulates water. The inclusion of a battery backup ensures continuous operation even when sunlight is not available. Here's a step-by-step explanation of how it typically operates:

  1. Solar Panel Absorption:

    • The solar water pump system consists of a solar panel, this should be mounted in an area with direct sunlight. The solar panel absorbs sunlight and converts it into electrical energy through the photovoltaic cells. This unit comes with a remote solar panel with 5m of cable giving you flexibility for placement of the solar panel.
  2. Energy Conversion and Storage:

    • The solar panel generates direct current (DC) electricity when exposed to sunlight. This electricity is then sent to the pump and simultaneously used to charge the rechargeable battery within the system.
  3. Battery Storage:

    • The rechargeable battery acts as an energy storage unit. It stores excess energy generated by the solar panel during sunny periods. This stored energy is crucial for ensuring the pump's operation during periods of low or no sunlight, such as at night or during cloudy days.
  4. Pump Operation:

    • The water pump is connected to the rechargeable battery located on the back of the solar panel. When the pump is initiated, either manually or automatically, it draws power from the battery. If there is sufficient sunlight, the pump may draw power directly from the solar panel as well.
  5. Auto Operation and Battery Management:

    • Our water features are equipped with an automatic operation feature. The system monitors the battery charge level, and the pump starts operating only when the battery has a certain charge. This protects the battery and prolongs its life.
  6. Continuous Operation:

    • The cascade water feature can operate continuously as long as there is sufficient solar energy to power the pump directly or charge the battery. The battery provides a buffer, allowing the pump to function during periods of low sunlight or at night.

In summary, a Terracotta solar water feature with battery backup utilizes solar energy to power a pump, with the added benefit of a rechargeable battery for continuous operation during periods of low sunlight. This system provides a sustainable and off-grid solution for enjoying a garden water feature in areas without access to conventional power sources.
