This all in one filter system is designed for small ponds up to 800 Litres with a small stock of fish.

The unit contains the Solar UVC 5w - this UVC is designed to illuminate for 2 hours per day & the pump will run for 4 hours per day.Simply set the timer once and then the onboard memory will ensure this same start time is selected daily. Filter foams, media and gravel are all included in this unique product.

Mechanical, Biological & UV Pond Water Filtering Powered by Solar

The filter box contains flexible sponge, bio balls and gravel, and UV light this ensures the filter box removes physical debris & destroys microorganisms to keep the pump clean and clear.

Zeolite or Gravel Medium Option

Zeolite is ideal for ammonia removal in aquariums and pond filters alike. With a micro porous structure known as a “molecular sieve” Zeolite is full of countless tiny holes the size of molecules. They can hold on to a whole range of other different molecules including Ammonia (NH3+).

It is perfect as the medium to remove Ammonia thereby clarifying Your Pond Water improving its Purity and acts as a water conditioner.
After Zeolite has been used for a few months it can be 'recharged' by placing it into a strong salt solution for a few hours

The Gravel will perform almost the same function as the Zeolite medium but will not remove ammonia, the gravel also does take longer to feel the benefits
As it takes time for the good bacteria to colonise the gravel, however arguably it is a more sustainable solution.

Solar Powered Filter Pump

The Pond Filter is powered with a 450 lph solar pump, so after the water has been filtered you can enjoy the bonus of a fountain spray feature using the fountain attachments included.
You can also attach the pump after filtration, to a water feature or pond spitter of your choice (Max pump height after filtration via additional 12mm tubing is 45 cms).
The Pump also comes with a powerful panel and a large battery backup system to ensure more consistent flow.

Filtration is achieved in 3 ways

1) Foam Filter situated inside the unit offers mechanical filtration by removing solids up to 7 mm.

2) Water is sucked through the zeolite or pond gravel biomedia to achieve biological filtration, & extracts ammonia from the water

3) UV Light - The UV bulb emits ultraviolet light,. UV-C light has germicidal properties, meaning it can disrupt the DNA of microorganisms, preventing them from reproducing and rendering them harmless.

This a an Ideal entry level Solar Powered Pond Filter and keeps a fish pond very clean with very little maintenance involved, easy to set up & install, very economical & reliable.

A Solar Pond Pump And Filter With Battery Backup with a 5-watt UV light typically works in a manner similar to conventional pond filters, but it utilizes solar energy for power. Here's a general overview of how such a system might operate:

  1. Solar Panels: The system includes solar panels that capture sunlight and convert it into electrical energy. This energy is used to power the various components of the pond filter.

  2. Pump: The solar-powered pond filter has a water pump that circulates water from the pond through the filter system. The pump is powered by the energy generated by the solar panels. It's responsible for moving water through the filter and UV sterilizer.

  3. Filter Medium: The filter contains a medium, often made of foam, sponge, or other porous materials. This filter medium serves to mechanically trap larger debris, such as leaves, twigs, and other organic matter, from the water as it passes through.

  4. Biological Filtration: In addition to the mechanical filtration provided by the filter medium, there may be areas within the filter that promote the growth of beneficial bacteria. These bacteria help break down and convert harmful substances like ammonia and nitrites into less harmful compounds, providing biological filtration.

  5. UV Sterilizer: The 5-watt UV light is incorporated into the system, usually positioned after the mechanical and biological filtration stages. As water passes through the UV sterilizer, it is exposed to the UV-C light. This helps control and eliminate microscopic algae, bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens in the water, promoting water clarity.

  6. Return to the Pond: After passing through the various filtration stages and the UV sterilizer, the filtered and treated water is then returned to the pond. This helps maintain water quality and clarity.

  7. Solar Charge Controller and Battery : This solar-powered pond filters includes a charge controller and a battery. The charge controller regulates the amount of solar energy directed to the pump and other components, while the battery stores excess energy generated during sunny periods. This allows the system to continue operating during periods of low or no sunlight.

Solar-powered pond filters are environmentally friendly and can provide energy-efficient filtration for ponds. However, their effectiveness may depend on the amount of sunlight available, so they may be most effective in areas with consistent sunlight exposure, they are not designed to operate in UK winter.
